If scrolling jumps too fast, clicks feel difficult, or navigation becomes frustrating
Sometimes the Apple TV remote becomes difficult to use because the touch surface is set too sensitively, causing movement on screen to react faster than expected.
This can make simple navigation feel frustrating, especially when trying to move through menus or select specific apps.
Common signs include:
- scrolling too fast
- selecting the wrong app
- skipping past menu items
- accidental jumps between screens
- small finger movements causing large screen movement
π‘ In most cases, the remote is not broken β it simply needs a sensitivity adjustment.
Why this happens
The Apple TV remote uses a touch-sensitive surface.
That means even a light swipe can trigger movement.
This often becomes noticeable when:
- using the remote quickly
- trying to scroll carefully
- switching between apps
- typing passwords or search terms
Some customers notice it more after software updates because settings may feel different than before.
Adjust sensitivity
Go to:
Settings > Remotes and Devices > Clickpad
There you can change how sensitive the touch surface feels.
Available sensitivity levels
Apple TV usually offers:
- Fast
- Medium
- Slow
If navigation feels difficult, choose:
Slow
π‘ This usually gives much better control.
If scrolling still feels difficult
Try using smaller finger movements.
A short swipe often works better than a full swipe.
Large swipes can make Apple TV jump farther than intended.
Helpful option: Switch to click-based control
Some customers prefer using clicks instead of touch gestures.
This makes navigation feel more precise.
Inside Clickpad settings, you can reduce touch reliance and use more direct button presses.
Many people find this much easier, especially if they prefer traditional remotes.
If the center button feels inconsistent
Sometimes pressing too lightly on the center area causes accidental movement instead of selection.
Try pressing firmly in the center when selecting an item.
If typing becomes difficult
When entering passwords or searching:
Move slowly one character at a time.
The touch surface often feels most sensitive during text entry.
If the remote suddenly feels different than before
A restart often helps.
Restart the remote
Hold:
TV button + Volume Down
for 5 seconds
Then release.
Wait for reconnection.
You may briefly see:
- Remote disconnected
- Remote connected
This is normal.
If the remote still behaves strangely
Charge the remote if possible.
Low battery can sometimes cause:
- delayed response
- uneven scrolling
- inconsistent clicks
Also restart Apple TV if needed
Unplug Apple TV from power.
Wait 30 seconds.
Reconnect.
Allow 1β2 minutes for restart.
If only one app feels difficult to control
Sometimes the issue is inside the app rather than the remote.
Try closing the app:
- Double press TV button
- Swipe to app
- Swipe up to close
Then reopen it.
Still difficult to control?
Please send support@marshmallowstreaming.com:

π© A quick photo if needed
That helps us identify whether it is:
- sensitivity setting
- battery issue
- remote connection issue
Helpful Tip
Many customers prefer slower sensitivity than Appleβs default setting, especially for everyday use.
A small adjustment often makes the remote feel dramatically easier to use.
