General Questions

Where did the name "Marshmallow" come from?

Our founder ’s late wife suggested the name. It was inspired by the Stanford Marshmallow Experiment where students were taught delayed gratification. In the experiment, students were told t hey could eat a single marshmallow now or have 3 marshmallows if they waited 15 minutes. The concept of delayed gratification contributed to the students’ successes later in life. They learned patience and hard work yielded rewards. This embodies the work we do, too. The savings we find for our customers grows over time and will continue to grow as our services and solutions mature.

Is Marshmallow an internet service provider?

No, we are not an internet service provider. We work with existing providers in the area to install and service the best fit for your needs.

Is it true that you deal with the cable company so I don't have to?

Absolutely, you sit back and watch us work. We remove and return rental equipment, cancel expensive services, negotiate new deals, order and transfer services as necessary.

What is "streaming"?

Streaming is watching content over an internet connection, as opposed to a cable or satellite service. This can include live TV, movies, TV shows, music and more.

What kind of support do you offer?

Residential

  • Free remote support: unlimited calls, text and emails to ensure everything is running right and you have piece of mind
  • On-site support comes with a $99 service fee.

Commercial

  • This is on a solution-by-solution basis. Please contact us to discuss your needs.
Will you teach me how to use my new technology?

Absolutely. Once we complete our installation, our technicians will show you how to use everything. In addition, you can reach out to us with follow up questions as well.

Getting Started

What do I need to get started?

Schedule a Consultation with us. It’s helpful if you have a copy of your current cable and internet bill ready to go so we can explore the right solution for you.

Rental Equipment and Returns

Can you help identify what equipment I'm renting from my provider?

Yes, with a copy of your bill we’ll be able to identify the rental equipment and fees that we can eliminate.

What equipment do you remove and return?

Anything that you’re paying monthly rental fees for. This includes, but is not limited to, modem/routers, security hubs, cable and satellite TV boxes.

Internet Service & Wi-Fi

Can you ensure good WiFi coverage throughout my home?

Guaranteed. We primarily mesh Wi-Fi systems to ensure strong coverage, fast speeds and reliability throughout your entire home.

Can you help me choose a new internet plan?

Yes, that’s what we specialize in. We’re not here to oversell you on internet speeds you don’t need, or speeds you don’t get. We consult to find the right speed and price that works best for you.

What internet speeds do I need for streaming?

Our rule of thumb is 50-100 Mbps per person in the household. This is a great tool from Consumer Reports that shows how you likely don’t need as much speed at your internet company sold you on.

Streaming Services & Channels

What is Cloud DVR?

Live TV streaming services give you the ability to set and watch your records from any device, anywhere, by storing your recordings in their cloud.

Cloud DVR & Devices

Can I fast-forward through commercials?

Yes, on most programming you can. There may be some exceptions where a certain program or network doesn’t allow it.

Pricing & Savings

Are there any hidden fees or long-term contracts?

We pride ourselves on transparency. Streaming services are month-to-month with no penalties to cancel. The best internet service deals sometimes come with contracts, but we make sure to review those terms with you.

How does Marshmallow get paid for their services?

We take payment after the installation is complete, for the upfront cost of the project.

How much can I expect to save each month?

For internet and live TV streaming, we like to see our customers paying less than $150/mo. Based on average cable bills, that is generally over $100/mo in savings.
