Rebooting Your Gateway (Modem)
If your internet is running slow, devices won't connect, or your service drops completely, restarting your AT&T Wi-Fi Gateway is the most effective first step.
Method 1: Using the Smart Home Manager App (Easiest) You can restart your equipment right from your phone without touching the physical box.
- Open the AT&T Smart Home Manager app.
- Navigate to Network > My gateway.
- Tap Restart and confirm. Your internet will go offline for about 5 to 10 minutes while the system reboots.
Method 2: The Manual Power Cycle If the app isn't working or your phone isn't connecting to the internet, do a hard reboot.
- Unplug the power cord directly from the back of the AT&T Gateway or the wall outlet.
- Wait for one full minute.
- Plug the power cord back in securely.
- Wait for the lights on the front of the Gateway to turn solid green or solid white (depending on your model). This can take up to 10 minutes.

Understanding Pro-Rated Billing
Like most major telecom providers, AT&T utilizes "Advance Billing." This means they generate your bill and charge you for the upcoming month of service, rather than the month you just used.
Why this matters when we lower your bill: Because AT&T generates your bill a month ahead of time, any changes made to your account today (like lowering your rate or removing features) will not immediately stop your current bill from charging the old amount.
If we secure a lower rate for you today, AT&T will still charge you the previously generated amount on your upcoming due date. However, on your next billing cycle, your statement will reflect the new lower monthly rate and it will include prorated credits to refund you for the days you overpaid during the previous month.
