Account General

Your Ring account settings, privacy controls, and security features are all managed in the Control Center. This is where you can change your email, update your password, and manage two-step verification.

  1. Open the Ring app.
  2. Tap the Menu (☰) icon in the top left corner.
  3. Tap Control Center.
  4. From here, navigate to Account Management to update your personal details, or explore the other menus to adjust your privacy and security settings.

Adding Users

If you want a family member or roommate to be able to view camera feeds and answer doorbell rings, you should add them as a Shared User rather than giving them your login password.

  1. Open the Ring app and tap the Menu (☰) icon.
  2. Tap Settings, then tap User Permissions.
  3. Tap Invite User and enter their name and email address.
  4. Select the specific cameras or devices you want them to have access to, then tap Send Invite.
Note: The person you invite will receive an email. They must download the Ring app and create their own free Ring account to accept the invitation and view the cameras.

Viewing Devices

The Ring app makes it easy to see all your cameras and sensors in one place.

  1. When you open the Ring app, you will land on the main Dashboard. This screen shows thumbnail previews of all your active cameras.
  2. Tap on any camera's thumbnail to instantly open the Live View.
  3. To view past recordings or change specific settings for a camera, tap the Menu (☰) icon, tap Devices, and select the specific device from the list.

Adding Devices

Expanding your security system with a new camera, doorbell, or chime is a quick process.

  1. Open the Ring app and tap the Menu (☰) icon.
  2. Tap Set Up a Device.
  3. Choose the type of device you are setting up (e.g., Doorbells, Security Cams, Chimes).
  4. The app will prompt you to scan the QR code or MAC ID barcode located on the back of the device (or inside the packaging). Follow the on-screen prompts to connect it to your Wi-Fi.

Ring Protect Plan (Ring Home)

Ring has recently updated and rebranded their subscription services from "Ring Protect" to "Ring Home." A subscription is required if you want your cameras to save and record video; without one, you can only view the live feed.

Subscribing Because of app store fees, you cannot subscribe to a plan directly inside the Ring mobile app.

  1. Open a web browser on your phone or computer and go to ring.com.
  2. Log in with your Ring account credentials.
  3. Tap Plan at the top of the screen (or in the mobile web menu).
  4. Select Subscribe next to your unsubscribed devices and follow the checkout process.

Updating Payment Methods

Just like subscribing, managing your billing cannot be done within the Ring mobile app. You must use a web browser.

  1. Go to ring.com and log in to your account.
  2. Navigate to Account > Control Center. (On a mobile browser, tap the Menu icon first).
  3. Tap Account Management.
  4. Scroll down to the Payment Method section and select Add or Update.
  5. Enter your new credit or debit card information and click Save.
