Unresponsive App (Blank Screen Upon Opening)

If you open the YouTube TV app and are greeted with a completely blank or black screen, the app has likely frozen in the background. To fix this, you simply need to force close the app and reopen it to give it a fresh start.

YouTube Opens Instead of YouTube TV

It is incredibly common to accidentally open the regular YouTube app instead of YouTube TV, or occasionally a software glitch might redirect you. If you see standard YouTube creator videos instead of your live TV guide, you are in the wrong app.

Simply force close the app to exit. When you return to your home screen, ensure you are selecting the specific YouTube TV icon (it has the word "TV" next to the red play button) rather than the standard YouTube logo.

Updating Payment Method

If you need to change the credit card on file for your subscription, you cannot do this directly through the app on your TV. You will need to use a phone, tablet, or computer.

  1. Open a web browser and go to tv.youtube.com.
  2. Log in to your account.
  3. Click on your profile picture in the top right corner of the screen.
  4. Navigate to Settings > Billing > Update.
  5. Enter your new credit card or payment information and save your changes.
